About

Ballet

Ballet is an artistic dance form that originated during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread and highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Terms like “ballet” and “ball” stem from the Italian word "ballare," which means "to dance."

Why Join Us

1

Cultivate discipline and resilience

Learning dance is a rigorous activity that trains the student performance skills from their very first class. From standing in line, to walking on stage, performing, the ending bow to bidding everyone goodbye at the end of the lesson, students start to learn focus and concentration early on which will aid them in other areas of their lives.
2

Have fun and make friends

Friendships often form when there is a common interest and goal. Through learning together, rehearsing with each other and encouraging their peers, students foster new friendships that can last a long time. We all need support from time to time and a friend to lean on! Dance classes can be a great way to meet new people while having fun together!
3

Confidence building

Dance is a great way to build confidence as students can see their improvements over time. It might be passing an exam or simply learning a new dance routine for a performance. Students feel a sense of accomplishment after working through the jitters and the nerves.
4

Improving fitness and flexibility

Dancers have great muscle control and flexibility because of the exercises done in class. This increases mobility in the joints and lowers the risk of injuries during the day to day activities. Fitness training also enables them to be stronger when doing other sports and activities.
5

Structured training

Our dance programme for young children is designed based on child dance pedagogy to build a strong foundation. Various exercises are taught using teaching methods such as imagery and props to promote understanding and imagination. These exercises aim to develop coordination, strength and flexibility, self-awareness, style and expression, spatial awareness as well as musicality. Our dancers go for yearly CSTD examinations.
